Frequently Asked Questions
Steadcast requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) and an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later). On-device transcription uses the Speech framework, and Apple Intelligence powers summaries. Both require Apple Silicon.
Steadcast is a one-time purchase. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no ads. You buy it once and it is yours.
All your podcast subscriptions, episodes, playback progress, bookmarks, and notes are stored locally on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud. See our privacy policy for full details.
Export an OPML file from your current podcast app, then press Cmd + I in Steadcast to import it. All your subscriptions will be added and their feeds will begin refreshing immediately.
Steadcast uses global keyboard shortcuts that work even when the app is in the background. These require Accessibility permissions.
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and make sure Steadcast is listed and enabled. You may need to remove and re-add it if permissions were previously denied.
Press Cmd + E to export your subscriptions as an OPML file. This standard format can be imported into any other podcast app.
